MONGOLIAN WOOL AND CASHMERE INDUSTRY BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS IDEATHON EVENT HAS BEEN ORGANIZED

The European Union-funded UNDP is working with employers and young employees of Mongolian wool and cashmere companies to become ambassadors and agents of change by providing them with knowledge and understanding of environmentally friendly, responsible and human rights-respecting businesses in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
In this context, on June 18, 2025, the Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association organized an IDEATHON event aimed at the management, human resources staff, and managers of companies participating in the project. The Ideathon event was opened by UNDP Project Coordinator Ariunaa.T and Manager of Mongolian wool and cashmere association Tuya.Ts, and gave an introduction to the project process and were guided by National Human Rights Expert Tuya.O.
In order to adapt to the rapidly changing world of work and take appropriate measures to ensure the right to work during the process of change, the training covered the nature of sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship, human rights due diligence, reducing human rights violations in labor relations, and possible ways for companies to implement them. Participants were divided into teams to identify human rights issues, agree on the root causes of the problems, and propose improvements. The results were presented in a short 2-3 minute reel video format.
The project will provide companies with human rights training, seminars and consulting services related to responsible business ethics, and incorporate human rights issues into policy documents. It will also empower stakeholders directly involved in employment relations and work together to find solutions to problems in the cashmere sector based on youth initiatives.
We would like to thank all the companies and stakeholders who actively participated in the Ideathon event to address human rights issues in the cashmere textile industry within the framework of sustainable production and social responsibility, and wish them success in their work.
