AN ONLINE MEETING WAS HELD ON THE ISSUE OF REGISTERING 5 COLOR OF MONGOLIAN CASHMERE IN THE EUROPEAN UNION GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS /GI/.
On June 14, 2025, an online meeting was held in frame of registering Mongolian cashmere products in European Union Geographical Indications with Raimondo Serra, Deputy head of the geographical indications department of European Union, Natalie Nathon, Foreign relations officer, Ulziisaikhan.G, Director of economic cooperation and foreign trade department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Intellectual property of Mongolia and Mongolian wool and cashmere association.
Raimondo Serra, Deputy head of the EU’s geographical indications department, said that while the EU assesses all geographical indications based on their level of demand and accepts applications for trademark registration, it is aware of the limitations in registering them, but that it will cooperate fully in registering Mongolian geographical indications.
In addition, Dr. Narantogtokh.D, a member of the working group on the development of Geographical Indication and Trademark documents aimed to creating the unique characteristics, distinctiveness, and differentiation of Mongolian cashmere, presented the progress of the work being done by the teacher of the School of industrial technology of the Mongolian State University of Science and Technology on the registration of Mongolian cashmere in 5 colors, and the prototype of the trademark logo also Oyuntsetsen.B, Head of the Patent and Trademark Department of the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia, gave a brief introduction and information on the progress of the registration process with the domestic Intellectual Property Office from Mongolian wool and cashmere association.
Furthermore, it was agreed that to be held regular meetings and to exchange views on the progress of the work that are being carried out.
